Robot Figurine 〰️

This project aimed to create an engaging and playful design for children at the Queensland Children's Hospital, transforming un-recyclable parts from the hospital into a meaningful artifact. The articulated robot serves as both a memento and a source of joy, allowing children to interact creatively with the design.

Drawing inspiration from the intricate aesthetics of Gundam robots and the organic forms of beetles, the design balances a mechanical look with playful elegance. This approach not only captivates the children’s imagination but also encourages a sense of ownership through customisation. By incorporating various accessories and weaponry, each child can personalize their robot, fostering creativity and emotional connection.

Utilising Fusion 360 for modeling, the robot was crafted to ensure both structural integrity and intricate detail. The final product was 3D printed in water-washable resin, highlighting sustainability and innovation while transforming waste into a cherished keepsake.

This project exemplifies the potential of design to inspire play, creativity, and resilience in young patients, providing a tactile and imaginative escape during their hospital experience.

  • Being able to provide a service where clients can customise and treasure the memory held by the figures I make fills me with immense joy. If I am able to make something that would bring a spark to someone else's day, then that is what I always strive to achieve and what I enjoy most in my work. Having the opportunity to do this with the Brisbane Children’s Hospital is a memory I will look fondly upon as well.
